The production of Palm Oil

The production of palm oil starts with palm oil seeds. Oil palms can live for 25 to 30 years approximately. Hence, the choice of the quality of seeds can impact its yield and production for decades to come. So, it would help if you were vigilant while choosing its seeds.

Initially, the seeds plantation takes place for around eight months in the nursery, and after that, the transplantation process takes place. These trees mature after 30 years and become ready for their first harvesting.

Then they are taken to the mills and its Fresh Fruit Branches (FBB), where they sterilize it by giving steam. Then the next step is stripping where the palm fruit removes from the branch, and it also deactivates the enzymes which might deteriorate the quality of FBB.

After the oil stripping, the fruit processing takes place in two elements: Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Palm Kernel Oil. The extraction of the CPO is through the flesh of the fruit by pressing it. By pressing the fruit, it takes the CPO out, which is then screened and filtered.

Filtering is vital as it makes it free from contamination, now it is moved to the refinery where it is made ready to use in cooking, biodiesel, or any other industry.
